Lainey Wilson opened up about her relationship with fiancé Devlin “Duck” Hodges — including family planning — in a new trailer for her upcoming documentary.

Wilson, 33, said she was “so broke” when she met Hodges, 29. The couple met in 2021 at a bar in Nashville, Tennessee, which has since closed. Hodges popped the question in February 2025 at late legend George Jones’ estate in Franklin, Tennessee, and Wilson said “it could not have been more perfect.”

“I don’t think that I would be able to navigate this life and everything with anybody else,” Wilson said in the trailer for Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool, which premieres later this month. The new sneak peek, which dropped on Wednesday morning (April 8), shows a glimpse of the proposal and the stunning engagement ring. Wilson went on to share, “I feel it in my heart that I was called to be a mama, but sometimes the Lord just has other plans. …I’m gonna freeze my eggs in April, put them babies on ice,” she said as the trailer transitioned to a look at the country star in a hospital gown.

Wilson previously opened up about future family plans when she caught up with Kate Langbroek on the Australia-based interview podcast, No Filter. The reigning Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year said at that time, “we definitely want to have a family. I think him and I both would be good parents and I’d love to see him be a dad. We’re gonna get married [first]. We’re gonna do the whole thing, and kids will be, you know, kids will be later. But we’re definitely gonna do it.”

“I couldn’t be more excited that this documentary is going to be on Netflix,” Wilson said in a statement when the documentary was announced earlier this year. “This was such a special project to make, and I hope that folks who watch it see that no dream is too big and that staying true to who you are will always lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.”

Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool is due to release on April 22. The documentary “follows Wilson as she redefines what it means to be a modern country star, proving that staying true to yourself can lead to major success. The film captures a pivotal moment in her career, exploring the country icon’s personal journey and chronicling her struggles and triumphs as she captivates fans on stage across the country,” per Netflix.
