Luke Bryan brought Carrie Underwood on stage on Thursday night (September 24) to reveal a “secret” together.

The two country stars performed together at Bryan’s sold-out “Luke & Friends” show at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, celebrating the release of his ninth studio record. Bryan and Underwood played a recorded message from fellow American Idol judge Lionel Richie to deliver “a surprise announcement” in front of thousands of fans.

“Hello, Nashville! Look at this beautiful crowd!” Richie said as fans cheered. “Now, let me tell you something. Some of my greatest friendships have started right here in Nashville, Tennessee. That includes you, Carrie and Luke. Do you want to share our secret?”

Bryan said into the mic, “I’m so surprised that I’ve been able to keep this a secret. Are you ready, Carrie?”

“I’m ready,” she replied.

“We’re coming back for the 25th season of American Idol,” Bryan said.

Underwood, who launched her career when she won the show’s fourth season in 2005, continued: “And of course, what would American Idol be without Mr. Ryan Seacrest?” She confirmed Seacrest will also return for the milestone season of the competition show.

“Go tell someone to audition,” Bryan said. “It’s going to be legendary, right?”

Underwood exclaimed, “legendary!”

American Idol’s 25th season is slated to arrive in 2027, airing on ABC and available to stream the following day on Hulu and Disney+. Production this season is reportedly moving from Los Angeles, California, and relocating to Atlanta, Georgia.

Bryan’s “Luke & Friends” show, taking place after he released Signs earlier this month, also included appearances by Dierks Bentley, Kane Brown, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean and Chris Stapleton, plus opener and CMA nominee Avery Anna.

“What a surreal, magical moment to be here on this stage tonight,” Bryan said. “I moved here and started chasing this dream, and a lot of great memories later, I get to stand right here in Music City USA. It is a dream come true to get to play music for a living, and I have all of you guys to thank for that.”
