National Hurricane Center Employees Working Through Shutdown Without Pay

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami are now working without pay smack dab in the middle of hurricane season thanks to the government shutdown. That means anxiety is up and morale is down for NHC employees punching in without pay until further notice. Barry University's Sean Foreman it's a double whammy coming months after federal cuts at NOAA. The workers will receive back pay when the shutdown ends. The last shutdown in 2019 lasted thirty-five days.
